The Unatec Optimiza project consists of research and development of technologies with a low level of maturity that could eventually be incorporated into the Energy Smart Generation suite for optimization and management of energy generation facilities, specifically for wind farms that Unatec has already created to offer complex and customizable solutions to all types of clients, with innovative functionalities and improvement of key technologies such as forecasting, geolocation and positioning, as well as communication components and big-data technologies.
The project has been co-financed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, within the Strategic Action on Telecommunications and Information Society through the file TSI-100110-2015-24

2017 Collaborative Challenges Call of the State Research, Development, and Innovation Program Oriented to Society's Challenges. The Challenge addressed by the project is "Action for Secure, Efficient, and Clean Energy."
The general objective of this project is to develop a technological solution called the Intelligent Wind Predictors Engine, to predict and adjust the weather forecast as accurately as possible, through an algorithmic combination of various prediction models, and to estimate, with minimal deviation, the energy production of wind farms. The aim is to optimize decision-making for adjusting their economic offer in the electricity market. This improves the performance of the facilities and reduces possible penalties they may incur.
There are five main research lines with which this technological challenge is to be addressed:
Several companies and technology centers are participating in the project, forming a consortium with complementary capabilities that facilitate the development of the proposed technological challenges. The entities that form the consortium are: UNATEC ITC S.L., the University of Salamanca (USAL), and CENER.
The MINPRE project has been funded by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. Its fundable budget amounts to €509,178.75.
"UNATEC ICT SL" has received a grant of €33,478.70 from the Madrid City Council for the implementation of the project called "Modular optimization of UNATEC services to improve electrical generation, maintenance and distribution" under the public call for grants aimed at promoting products, tools or services for technological modernization and digitalization, aimed at SMEs and improving their competitiveness, for the 2025 fiscal year, from the General Directorate of Economy of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance.
